A Quiet Celebration of New Beginnings

Chris and Karen’s Point Dume proposal was the second in our four-day surprise proposal marathon—and even though the day started with chaos, it ended in golden-hour magic.

The plan was simple: an intimate sunset setup along Malibu’s iconic cliffs, with photo and video coverage to document the moment. But Google Maps tried to reroute the entire day, warning of road closures that didn’t exist. Despite rushing out the door, navigating unpredictable traffic, we made it just in time.

Chris and Karen met at work, and are now expecting their first baby. Chris wanted this proposal to be heartfelt, meaningful, and beautiful, and Point Dume did not disappoint. Though the beach was busier than expected (thanks to Juneteenth and school holidays), we carved out a quiet space for them to share the moment.

The light was perfect, the vibes mellow. Karen absolutely radiated in her element, knowing how to move in front of the camera with ease. Chris was more reserved, but the genuine emotion between them came through as we guided them into some gentle poses post-proposal.

From the cliffs down to the water’s edge, every frame felt like a page out of a dreamy coastal love story. And even with minimal equipment, we captured everything with intention and clarity.

As I drove home along PCH, I reflected on the many couples I meet—each with their own culture, story, and dynamic. No matter their background, these are the moments that bring us all together. Love, joy, new beginnings—this is why we love doing what we do.
