When Josh approached us for his surprise proposal plan to Rose, we had brainstormed a handful of potential proposal spots in the Los Angeles areas, which we later-on narrowed down to the city of Malibu.
Malibu has the most beautiful beaches and hikes overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Malibu is also one of the most popular proposal spots among many of our proposers when it comes to picking the right spot for that special moment.
When anyone plan a surprise proposal, I always ask them if they have a cover story to tell to get their partner to dress up for the special occasion. It is not always smooth and easy, but Josh simply told Rose it would be a company party at Point Dume, in fact, there’s a restaurant named Sunset Restaurant at 6800 Westward Beach Rd, Malibu, CA 90265, which has the direct view of the beach. With the “company party” cover story in mind, this restaurant could have been the perfect leading spot.
While the beaches in Malibu are most popular among many, he wanted the spot to be up high with an ocean view, or a spot that’s away from the water. Atlas, we finalized on Point Dume in Malibu. After some more thoughts on crowds on a Summer day, time of the day, and the parking situation, we settled on the summit at Point Dume, which can easily be accessed from the East side parking lot within 10 minutes walking distance. It is also close by the boardwalk with the ocean view that’s perfect for their engagement photos right after their proposal.
Engagement photos are typically pre-planned with the couple, after their initial proposal, on a separate day. Our Proposal package includes a short Engagement session to capture those initial joyful moments, which is always well received by our couples. Most of our proposers will do their best to get their partner to dress up, but they are aware it is the moment that counts, the rest can be planned once the two are officially engaged.
