Before their wedding day at Sherman Library & Gardens, I had the joy of photographing Claire & Robert during their engagement session at Hillcrest Park in Fullerton. Engagement shoots are more than just beautiful photos — they’re a chance to connect, build trust, and see how you and your photographer work together. That extra time makes such a difference on the wedding day, because by then, the nerves fade and the confidence shines through.
Getting Ready at Sherman Library & Gardens (2:30pm)
Spot: Historical Research Library
The day began with light nerves and lots of excitement. Claire slipped into her gown inside the cozy bridal suite, while Robert prepared nearby. Though the rooms were intimate, they added a sentimental touch to the early afternoon. We captured detailed shots of their attire and accessories, ensuring those quiet behind-the-scenes memories became part of their Sherman Gardens wedding photography story.
First Look & Portraits (3pm)
Spot: Specimen Shade Garden
The couple shared their first look by the pond at Sherman Library & Gardens, framed by blooming flowers and soft, golden light filtering through the garden buildings. The moment was emotional yet serene — a quiet pause before the day unfolded. The natural doorway framing, gentle colors of spring, and the lily pond in the foreground created a timeless setting that perfectly reflected their joy and anticipation.
The Ceremony by the fountain (5pm)
Spot: Tea Garden
The ceremony unfolded in front of the garden’s iconic fountain, framed by blooming spring flowers and perfect early golden light. Claire’s walk down the aisle brought tears to her mother’s eyes, while their heartfelt vows reflected eight years of love and growth. The fountain’s soft movement and the lush purple wisteria flowers created a picture-perfect backdrop for their colorful spring garden wedding ceremony.
The Reception (6pm)
Spot: Cafe and Tile Mural
Guests moved into the garden’s reception space, where the atmosphere was lively and intimate. From heartfelt speeches to a trivia game designed by the couple, every detail reflected their personalities. Instead of a traditional cake, they treated guests to a whimsical donut tower. The evening kicked off with their first dance, warm speeches, sit down dinner served by the garden’s restaurant 608 Dhalia, a bouquet toss, and even a playful Soul Train line that had everyone on their feet.
Favorite Moments & Personal Touches
One of the sweetest touches was the handmade party favors Claire created for each guest—a true labor of love that made everyone feel special. The couple also surprised guests with a “photobomb” group portrait so no one was left out of their photos with the couple. And of course, their first look by the lily pond surrounded by light and fresh blooms was a highlight of the day.
