Southern California Proposal & Wedding Photographer

We’re Stephanie and Bryan— a husband-and-wife duo who believe that life’s most meaningful moments deserve to be captured and cherished. Stephanie is the creative force behind the lens, and Bryan, a software engineer by day, is her biggest supporter in every endeavor. Together, we bring a dynamic blend of creativity, precision, and teamwork to every session.

A Dream Proposal with a View

Melissa and Miguel’s proposal at Griffith Observatory was the perfect mix of romance, challenge, and adventure.

The couple drove from San Diego to Los Angeles, joined by close friends visiting from Tijuana, all eager to experience the magic of the city skyline view. Griffith is one of LA’s most iconic proposal locations — but it’s also one of the trickiest to photograph.

Between steep hills, limited parking, and weekend crowds, this session reminded us that beauty often comes with a little chaos. Yet in the end, everything came together beautifully.

Behind the Scenes: What It’s Really Like Shooting Here

Before the shoot, Stephanie hand-crafted a lush bouquet of white and green roses — elegant yet simple — designed for both the proposal setup and as a prop for portraits afterward. It’s these personal details that make each proposal story feel intentional and heartfelt.

When we arrived, parking restrictions meant we had to unload gear and walk uphill under the afternoon sun, pulling our wagon with all the essentials — camera bodies, lenses, a misting fan, and the floral setup. Bryan helped coordinate logistics, while our dog Shabu tagged along for extra morale support (and a few cameos).

Despite the heat and heavy foot traffic, we managed to find quiet corners with sweeping views of the city and Hollywood sign — a balance between iconic and intimate.

Planning a Proposal at Griffith Observatory

If you’re dreaming of proposing here, timing and preparation are everything.

Parking & Crowds: Arrive early — ideally 45 minutes before your planned time. Western Canyon Road and the Greek Theatre lots are usually the best options, but they fill fast. Be ready to walk uphill with your essentials.

Permits & Setups: While casual photos are allowed, tripods or elaborate setups often require permits. Keep your setup simple — small bouquets, rose petals, or champagne toasts work beautifully without attracting unwanted attention.

Best Time for Photos: Golden hour gives the Observatory that signature glow, while twilight captures the sparkling city lights below. Both are stunning — just plan based on your energy and comfort level in crowds.

Lessons from a Destination Couple

Melissa and Miguel reminded us how much love drives these moments — literally. They traveled two and a half hours for this proposal, facing LA traffic, heat, and delays, yet stayed joyful through it all.

They arrived nearly 45 minutes late, but instead of stress, we embraced flexibility. We shifted locations slightly, adjusted the light plan, and still caught the most heartwarming reactions.

For destination couples considering LA for their proposal, flexibility is key. Traffic and crowds may be unpredictable, but genuine emotion always shines through.

Photographer’s Takeaways

Every Griffith Observatory shoot reinforces a few golden rules:

  • Pack light, but don’t forget comfort essentials (water, sunscreen, hat, misting fan).
  • Use a wagon or rolling bag — the terrain and incline are no joke.
  • Scout the area early — certain overlooks have better light and fewer people.
  • Stay calm under pressure — your tone sets the mood for the overall proposal.

And of course, don’t forget to have fun!
