Family photos in Playa Del Rey | The Hashemi Family

A young family with a little girl that was going to turn two at the time of our session. At 2 years old, the little ones are at their most innocent, they can walk and are very curious about their surroundings. The family had picked to shoot with me at the Del Rey Lagoon park for its combination of water, sand, grass and tall trees. Originally, we had settled on a time that has good lighting of the day, but with the little one, most times, we want to be flexible and work around their sleep schedule, as you may have already guessed – a grumpy baby won’t get you any good pictures So setting the day right for the little ones will lead to great shoot for everyone. For that reason, our session took place slightly after Golden hour, which gave me an opportunity to be creative and find spots that work well for the family, both lighting and safety for the little girl. 

I haven’t shot a lot of little girls that’s under the age of 5 in my family sessions, mostly boys. With boys, I am used to running around or having my camera chase around their movements, but with girls, they are generally more mellow and prefer exploring with their gentle steps. I love them all, it’s a different style every time I encounter a new kid. Some are shy, but some are quick to warm up to me, so it really depends on their mood I guess! What’s the common thing about them all is that they are all ticklish and I can always get them to laugh when the parents have their fingers dance and crawl around their belly. Hehe!
