Not Just a Photo — A Moment of Confidence

Most people think a corporate headshot is just a quick photo for LinkedIn. But for me, it’s so much more than that.

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph 60 team members during a corporate retreat at The Ranch in Laguna Beach. It was a whirlwind three-hour session—marathon-style, high-volume, fast-paced. But beneath all the logistics and lighting setups, something deeper stood out to me:

Every single person in front of my lens just wanted to feel good about how they showed up.

What Happens Behind the Camera

I started my morning like any other—early breakfast, loading gear, a drive down the California coast. But as I walked into the conference room to set up my mobile studio, I knew the day was going to be special.

This wasn’t just a headshot booth—it was a space to be seen. A quiet corner tucked into a busy retreat where people could pause, breathe, and have a moment just for themselves.

From guiding each person’s pose to helping fix a stray curl or adjusting their blazer, I found myself doing so much more than clicking a shutter. I was helping people feel confident—sometimes for the first time in front of a camera.

“Does My Hair Look Okay?” — And Other Real Moments

Behind every photo, there were little moments that made me smile:

• One client nervously asked, “Is this how I’m supposed to stand?”

• Another joked, “I need this for the email signature that no one ever looks at!”

• Several people quietly said, “I usually hate having my picture taken, but this was actually fun.”

These were the in-between moments—the ones that don’t always make it into the final gallery but say so much about the experience.

I walked them through each pose with gentle direction. I offered them a chance to review their images. I reminded them they could ask for retakes. And most of all, I listened. Because in a fast-moving session, what people really want is to feel like they matter—even for just a few minutes.

Bringing Studio-Quality Photos to a Retreat Setting

With a portable lighting setup, real-time image preview on iPad, and an instant delivery system via QR codes, the session felt streamlined and professional—but also warm and personal.

Yes, we photographed over 60 individuals in a short span of time. But each portrait was given the same care and attention as a one-on-one branding session. Because that’s how I approach my work—every face, every story, every frame matters.

Why Corporate Headshots Deserve More Heart

When companies host retreats or team events, there’s an opportunity to do something more meaningful than just a headshot update. It’s a chance to celebrate the people who make the organization thrive.

Corporate photography doesn’t have to feel sterile or transactional. It can feel human. Thoughtful. Empowering.

And that’s exactly what I strive to create—photos that not only look polished, but make people feel like the best version of themselves.
