Palos Verdes Family and Maternity Photos | The Yamasaki Family

A lovely family of 3 expecting their additions to the family – a set of twin girls! Like many families, the Yamasakis had the experience shooting indoors at a studio, so this particular session was a completely different experience for them as it took place outdoors, at beautiful Palos Verdes, California. After our initial call, we have settled on shooting at two different locations during Golden Hour. 

While we primarily shoot outdoors, we still love having control with our lighting. For this session, we brought out our parabolic umbrella to add light as the sun reflection over the ocean at one of our locations was rather harsh, which may cause our subjects to have dark faces when their backs are facing the water. Depending on the type and time of day we shoot at, we typically choose to prioritize shooting with natural light as I feel that natural light allows more freedom for our subjects to move around for a natural look, in return showcasing more natural smiles. Either results always come out great for us, we try our best to relax our subjects, and having Shadow around definitely helps our subjects feel at ease.
